Realign your eyes and restore binocular vision. Our specialized squint correction surgeries are highly safe and effective for both children and adults.
A squint, medically known as strabismus, is a condition where the eyes do not align properly. One eye may turn inwards, outwards, upwards, or downwards while the other looks straight ahead.
If left untreated in children, it can lead to a "lazy eye" (amblyopia) and permanent vision loss. In adults, it can cause double vision and cosmetic concerns. Surgery is often the most definitive way to correct the alignment of the eye muscles.
Squint surgery involves adjusting the tension of the eye muscles to properly align the eyes. It is usually performed under general anaesthesia for children and local anaesthesia for adults.
A tiny incision is made in the conjunctiva to reach the eye muscles. (The eye is NOT removed during surgery).
Depending on the type of squint, the surgeon will either shorten the muscle to strengthen it or move it further back to weaken its pull.
Dissolvable stitches are used to hold the muscle in its new position.
Patients can usually return home the same day. The eye may appear red and feel scratchy for a few weeks, which is completely normal.
The cost of squint surgery depends on whether one or both eyes are being operated on, and how many muscles need adjustment. We provide a fully transparent cost breakdown after a comprehensive pediatric or adult assessment.
